How Many Bags Can You Take on Your Private Flight?
Sep 24, 2024
Each private jet cabin class, from light to ultra-long range, offers storage areas that can accommodate baggage from suitcases to golf clubs -- some can even carry a surfboard. The larger the cabin, the greater the storage space*.
Below, we’ll explore the baggage capacity of different categories of private jets.
Light Jets
Lights jets, like the Cessna Citation Ultra, are perfect for short to medium-range flights and can seat up to 7 passengers. On average, light jets offer a baggage allowance of one piece of luggage (up to 50 pounds) per passenger, with the total baggage capacity typically ranging from 65 to 76 cubic feet. With each passenger able to bring a small, wheeled bag and a personal item, light jets are excellent options for quick jet trips.
Midsize Jets
Midsize private aircraft offer more space than light jets, accommodating up to 8 passengers. Many of these private jets, like the Cessna Citation XL have up to 90 cubic feet of storage. However, there are some models that far exceed that, most notably the Embraer Legacy 450. According to Private Jet Card Comparisions, the Legacy 450 has an impressive 177 cubic feet of available storage. The Embraer Legacy 500 offers a little less, 155 cubic feet.
Super Midsize Jets
Super midsize aircraft can accommodate 8-10 private flyers with as much as 155 cubic feet of storage space. The Bombardier Challenger 350 provides up to 106 cubic feet of storage space, and passengers are able to access their bags while in flight.
Large Cabin Jets
Up to 14 passengers can fit in large cabin aircraft, which are designed for long-haul flights. These private jets offer an impressive range of luggage capacity, from 114 to 286 cubic feet. The storage space is split between the cabin and the cargo hold so flyers can access their luggage during their private flight, which may include overnight travel. The Bombardier Global 5000 has up to 195 cubic feet of storage, enough to hold two large bags for each person. Large cabin jets can also accommodate sports equipment like skis and golf clubs.
Ultra-Long-Range Jets
With a flying range of up to 8,000 nautical miles, ultra-long-range jets have the most global connectivity of any private aircraft. Ideal for intercontinental flights with superior comfort, these aircraft have a luggage capacity of up to 525 cubic feet. Private flyers in ultra-long-range jets, like the Bombardier Global 7500, the largest and longest-range business jet, are also able to conveniently access their luggage during their flight.
